Safeguarding

Our biggest priority is safety, and Grow Your Potential is committed to safeguarding

A Priority To Safety

All GYP mentors are DBS checked and trained to grow at the pace of the mentee while utilising the tools of the GYP mentoring pack. The pack is designed to enable the mentee to take real stock of where they are at and to be unashamed or unafraid of doing so. Reflection and guided conversations around the GYP 6 growth areas enable this process to take place. The work from there depends on the length of time decided upon with the mentee and the organisation that has enabled the sessions to take place. Sessions can be tailored to having 1-hour meetings per week for 6-12 weeks or a longer term, depending on what is agreed or required. Meetings can take place via Zoom or face to face within school or the community. Our trained mentors can also support additional areas such as mental health, surviving domestic violence, and anything else that is a particular issue or concern for the mentee. If further expert, professional support is needed, our mentors are confident in talking this through with their mentees and referring or signposting them to the relevant supportive agencies, ensuring that together we can grow their potential.

At Grow Your Potential, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where all students can thrive and achieve their full potential. Our commitment to safeguarding extends to every member of our community, including students, staff, parents, and visitors.

What Safeguarding Means To Us?

Safeguarding encompasses a broad range of principles and practices aimed at ensuring the welfare, safety, and well-being of our students. It means:

1

Prioritising Student Welfare

We place the welfare of our students above all else. We are committed to providing a caring and supportive atmosphere where every student feels valued, respected, and protected.

2

Vigilance and Awareness

We are vigilant and proactive in identifying and addressing potential risks or concerns that may affect our students. This includes being attentive to signs of abuse, neglect, or any other issues that may arise.

3

Comprehensive Training

Our staff receives comprehensive training in safeguarding procedures, child protection, and the identification of vulnerable individuals. We ensure that everyone in our provision is well-equipped to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities.

4

Effective Policies and Procedures

We maintain robust policies and procedures that are designed to prevent harm and respond effectively to safeguarding concerns. These policies are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practices and legal requirements.

5

Open Communication

We encourage open and transparent communication between students, staff, parents, and external stakeholders. We actively listen to concerns, provide channels for reporting, and take appropriate action when necessary.

6

Collaboration and Partnership

We collaborate with external agencies, such as local authorities, healthcare providers, and social services, to ensure that our students receive the support and care they need.

7

Empowerment

We empower our students with knowledge about safeguarding, their rights, and how to seek help if they ever feel unsafe or vulnerable. We believe that informed students are better equipped to protect themselves and others.

8

Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continuous improvement in our safeguarding practices. We regularly review and evaluate our procedures to identify areas for enhancement and ensure that we provide the highest standards of care.

9

Safeguarding Designated Leads

We have designated safeguarding leads who are responsible for overseeing our safeguarding efforts, providing guidance, and ensuring that our policies and procedures are consistently applied.

10

Reporting and Accountability

We have clear reporting mechanisms in place to report safeguarding concerns, and we hold ourselves accountable for taking appropriate and timely action to address them.

At Grow Your Potential, safeguarding is not just a policy; it is a shared responsibility and a moral obligation. Our commitment to safeguarding reflects our dedication to creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering educational environment where all students can flourish.

We welcome feedback and collaboration from our entire community to help us continually improve our safeguarding practices and maintain the highest standards of care.
